dark circle and puffiness treatment
Do you struggle with dark circles, fine lines, or crepey skin under your eyes? The eye area is often one of the first to show fatigue and aging. Traditional fillers aren’t always the best solution for these concerns, especially if the issue is thin skin or poor skin quality. Enter CROMA PhilArt EYE – a cutting-edgepolynucleotide-based injectable specifically formulated for the delicate periocular region.
At Parpar Medical Spa, we are excited to offer this advanced treatment (also known as Croma Polyphil Eye) to help our clients in Suffern, NY and surrounding areas brighten and tighten their under-eyes without fillers or surgery.
What is CROMA PhilArt EYE?
PhilArt Eye (formerly referred to as Polyphil Eye) is a bio-stimulatory injectable meaning it doesn’t fill like a typical filler; instead, it improves the skin’s own quality. Its active ingredients are polynucleotides (PN) – highly purified DNA fragments derived from natural sources (like fish sperm, in a sterile lab-processed form) that have regenerative properties.
When injected into the under-eye area, these polynucleotides work to:
Improve Hydration
PN molecules attract water, deeply hydrating the tissue.
Stimulate Collagen Production
They act as a scaffold and signal for fibroblasts to ramp up collagen and elastin creation, leading to firmer, more elastic skin
Enhance Microcirculation
Studies suggest PN can help improve blood flow in the skin’s tiny vessels, aiding in reduction of dark circles (since one cause of dark circles is blood pooling or poor circulation).
Promote Tissue Healing
Polynucleotides have been used in wound healing; in aesthetics, this translates to rejuvenating aging or damaged skin by encouraging cell turnover and repair.
PhilArt Eye is delivered as a clear gel, but it’s not adding significant volume. Instead, think of it as a long -lasting skin booster or “fertilizer” for your under-eye skin.
Key benefits include
Smoother fine lines andcrepey texture.
Reduced hollowness appearance by thickening and firming thin skin (makes underlying vessels and structures less visible, thus diminishing dark or sunken look).
Brighter skin tone under eyes, less shadowy, thanks to improved skin quality and possibly slight pigment reduction through better cell renewal and hydration.
It’s very gentle – specifically made for the sensitive eye area, so the risk of puffiness or Tyndall effect (bluish hue from fillers) is avoided.

Typically, a series of treatments is recommended. For example, 3 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Each session layers more improvement as the regeneration process builds. Results start to become noticeable within a few weeks of the first session (skin feels silkier and more moisturized), with optimal results after completing the series, as collagen and elastin have had time to develop.
PhilArt Eye can be used alone or in combination with other under-eye treatments. Some patients get it in conjunction with a bit of tear trough filler – the PhilArt improves skin and fine lines, while a touch of filler can address any actual hollows. We customize to what you need.
Why Choose PhilArt Eye for Under-Eye Rejuvenation?
Gentle & Safe for the Eye Area
The skin under the eyes is thin and prone to issues like edema (swelling) if treated incorrectly. Traditional fillers, if overdone, can appear lumpy or cause a bluish tint in this area. PhilArt Eye offers a no-filler approach to rejuvenation. Because it’s a biostimulator, it gradually improves the tissue without risk of over-plumping. It’s also biocompatible and safe for all skin types. Side effects are minimal (mostly just injection-site minor bruising or redness).
Natural-Looking Results
Since we’re improving your own skin, the outcome is very natural. There’s no drastic immediate change; instead, you notice over weeks that your eyes look more rested and youthful. Fine lines diminish and the skin has a healthy light-reflective glow. People will notice you look refreshed, but it’s subtle enough that it doesn’t scream “procedure” – they might just think you’ve been sleeping great or using an amazing eye cream (but you’ll know it’s much more effective than any cream alone!).
Addresses Root Causes
Tired-looking eyes often result from a combination of factors: thinning skin, loss of collagen, poor circulation, and dryness. Eye creams and concealers only mask or temporarily hydrate. PhilArt Eye treats the root cause by structurally improving the dermis (the skin’s support layer). By thickening and strengthening skin, it reduces translucency that shows dark underlying tissue, and by hydrating from within, it smooths crêpey texture. Also, polynucleotides have been shown to scavenge free radicals and have anti-inflammatory effects, which can further contribute to a brighter under-eye.
Quick and Minimal Downtime
Each treatment session is relatively quick (about 15-20 minutes) and with a series of microinjections. We apply numbing cream to ensure you’re comfortable. After treatment, you might have a few tiny bumps (like mosquito bites) where injected, but these typically dissipate within a day. Slight bruises can occur, but with fine needles and gentle technique, significant bruising is rare. Most patients go right back to normal activities – perhaps just wearing a bit of concealer if needed. It’s a lunch-break procedure that yields long-term benefit

Complements Other Treatments
If you’re doing other facial rejuvenation, PhilArt Eye can seamlessly fit in. For example, if you have Botox for crow’s feet, PhilArt Eye can address the under-eye at the same time for a full eye rejuvenation. Or if you had filler in the cheeks, this will blend nicely by ensuring the under-eye skin looks just as youthful as the lifted cheeks. It’s like the finishing touch to comprehensive facial care.
From a Trusted Brand
Croma is a well-known European pharmaceutical company (they’re behind popular fillers like Princess/Saypha and aesthetic products). Their PhilArt line (formerly RHA-specific products, now rebranded) is backed by research. Polynucleotide treatments have been widely used in places like South Korea and Italy for skin rejuvenation. Now it’s becoming a sought-after method here. Knowing it’s a quality, tested product gives peace of mind.
What to Expect During the CROMA PhilArt EYE RejuvenationTreatment
Consultation
We’ll assess what’s causing your under-eye concern. Is it mostly fine lines and crepey skin? True hollowing? Pigmentation? Often it’s a mix. If there’s significant hollowness (tear trough), we might recommend a tiny amount of filler in addition, but often starting with PhilArt Eye alone is wise to see how much it improves (you can always add filler later if needed). We’ll ensure you’re a candidate – contraindications are minimal (primarily active infection or severe allergies to ingredients, which is rare).
Preparation
You’ll lie back in a comfortable position. We cleanse your under-eye area gently and apply a topical anesthetic cream for about 15 minutes to numb the skin. Because the treatment involves a series of very small injections, numbing helps ensure you feel little more than tiny pinches.
We can also use a device called NanoSoft microneedles or similar multi-needle systems that allow very superficial, uniform injections for treatments like this – depending on what injection tool we deem best, which often reduces discomfort and speeds things up.
Injection
Using a fine needle or a special mesotherapy needle cluster, we’ll place microdeposits of the PN gel across the under-eye region. Typically, a series of injection points just below the lower eyelid, following the curve of the orbital bone, and possibly a few out toward the crow’s feet area, and into any crepeyness in the tear trough area. The injections are very shallow (in the superficial dermis). You might feel tiny pinpricks; most patients do fine with the numbing on board.
As we inject, small papules (bumps) may appear – this is normal. It’s the product sitting in the skin before it diffuses. They can look like mild swelling or tiny insect bites. Don’t worry, these will absorb, often within a few hours and at most a day. We sometimes lightly massage to spread the product.
Session Duration
The injecting part is quick, maybe 5 minutes per side. The whole visit including numbing is around 30 minutes.
Post-Treatment
You’ll have those little raised bumps that will gradually flatten. By next day, most are gone. – Minimal pinpoint bleeding might occur at injection sites; we apply a soothing cream and cold compress for a few minutes if needed. – You can apply makeup the next day (some do the same day once initial pinpoints closed, but better to wait till next morning). – There is essentially no downtime beyond possibly looking a bit like you have mild allergies or swelling under eyes for the rest of the day. It’s minor enough that many just carry on, maybe with glasses or a bit of concealer if necessary. – Bruising isn’t common due to the superficial plane, but if it happens, it’s usually a tiny bruise that’s easily covered.
Results Timeline
After the first session, within a week or two you’ll likely notice your under-eye skin feels more hydrated and maybe less creased. But the significant changes (improved tone, decreased darkness) start building after the 2nd session and especially after the full series. It’s a gradual glow-up for your eyes. Collagen induction takes a bit of time. By about a month after your last session, you’ll see the peak effect: skin firmer, lines diminished, under-eye area looking more plump and illuminated.
Many describe that their concealer no longer creases or that they need less of it, because the skin is smoother and the dark tone improved.
Maintenance
We often suggest a maintenance single session every ~6-12 months to sustain results. The improvements aren’t fleeting; you can expect the benefits to last around a year. But as aging continues, maintenance keeps up the results. Some patients choose to do a mini touch-up series (2 sessions) annually. We’ll tailor a plan for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from tear trough filler?
Tear trough filler (often HA filler like Restylane) is used to physically fill a hollow under the eye. It’s great if a sunken trough is the main issue. However, filler does not improve skin texture or color; it simply lifts the area. And in some cases (especially where skin is very thin or there’s festoons/under-eye bags), filler can actually worsen the appearance by causing puffiness or visible filler. PhilArt Eye is not about volume; it’s about skin quality. It thickens the skin and can mildly firm up tissue, which in turn can make a hollow less apparent and reduce dark shadows. There’s no risk of Tyndall effect because it isn’t a light-diffracting gel like HA filler, it’s more fluid. Often, if someone has both volume loss and poor skin, a combination approach yields the best outcome: first improve the skin with PhilArt, then if needed, add a bit of filler to what residual hollow remains. Some patients find after doing PN treatment, they need much less filler than they would have originally – or none at all. Also, polynucleotides can actually make the overall under-eye healthier, whereas filler is a temporary camouflage. So, it’s more regenerative vs. immediate structural fix. We will discuss which (or both) is appropriate for you. A big plus: PhilArt Eye is suitable even for those who for any reason can’t have filler (whether due to previous malar edema issues, allergies, etc.)
Are polynucleotide injections like PhilArt Eye safe?
Yes, polynucleotides have a long-standing safety profile in medicine and aesthetics. The DNA fragments used are purified to be free of any proteins or components that could cause a reaction. Essentially, they act as a biomaterial that your body recognizes and eventually metabolizes without problem. They do not alter your DNA or have any genetic effect – they simply reside in the tissue and trigger regenerative processes, then break down. Clinical studies (especially from Asia and Europe) have shown them to be safe and effective for skin rejuvenation, and they’ve been used for decades in healing contexts. Of course, like any injection, there is a small risk of infection or bruising, but in our controlled clinical environment that risk is extremely low. There’s no risk of vascular occlusion like filler, since it’s not volumetric and we inject very superficially. People even with autoimmune conditions have used PN therapy as it’s generally well-tolerated (though we’d evaluate on a case-by-case basis). If you’re allergic to salmon, rarely some might have sensitivity, but these products are processed to remove immunogenic substances. We observe standard precautions and you should feel confident in the safety of this treatment.
How many treatments will I need and do I have to keep doing it forever?
The initial protocol is usually 3 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart (say one every 3 weeks). Some milder cases might do 2, but 3 is a good average to get robust results. After that, you enjoy the results. Over time, as aging continues, the results will gradually diminish – typically after 9-12 months you may see some of the previous issues slowly creeping back (like a bit more wrinkling or dullness). To maintain, most patients do a single session booster at ~6 months or a repeat series at ~12 months. It isn’t a treatment you must do forever, but to keep the benefits, you’ll want maintenance because we can’t stop the natural aging process. The nice thing is even if you stop, you’ve given your skin a healthy boost that likely left it in a better state than if you had done nothing; you’ll just resume the normal aging from that point. But we suspect you’ll love the results enough to want to keep them up. It’s low commitment compared to something like monthly facials, etc. – think of it like how some might do microneedling in series once a year. Similarly, an annual PN skin revitalization is a great routine to maintain youthful under-eyes.
What does the treatment feel like?
With numbing cream applied, most patients report only a slight pinprick sensation or pressure with each injection. Some areas maybe are a bit more sensitive (like closer to the inner corner can be felt more). But because the needle is extremely fine and we inject small amounts, it’s quite tolerable. Many say it’s easier than getting blood drawn or a Botox injection. There may be slight tearing (reflex from any under-eye manipulation) but actual pain is minimal. After the procedure, the area might feel a little bit puffy or sensitive for a few hours simply from the injections, but usually not painful – maybe just a feeling of fullness until the bumps go down. We can also utilize cold air or ice to further minimize any discomfort and to reduce any reactive puffiness. Overall, patients do very well with this – it’s definitely less uncomfortable than filler injections in the same area.
Can I combine this with other eye treatments like Botox or laser?
Absolutely. PhilArt Eye plays well with others: – Botox: Many patients get Botox for crow’s feet. You can have that done in the same session as PhilArt Eye (we’d do injections slightly differently timed, maybe Botox first then PN, or vice versa – our experts manage the technique). They address different layers – Botox relaxes muscle causing wrinkles at the corners, PhilArt Eye improves skin texture and under-eye quality. Together you get a smooth all-around eye area. – Lasers/Peels: If you do laser resurfacing or chemical peels for under-eyes, we typically separate those from injection sessions by a couple weeks. They can be complementary; for instance, a light laser can help pigmentation while PN helps thickness and lines. If you’ve recently had a laser, we’d wait until you’re healed to do PN. If you want to do laser after PN, give the PN at least 2 weeks to settle. Our team will create a schedule if you’re undergoing multiple modalities. – Filler: As discussed, if needed, filler can be added. Some clinicians like to do PN first, then filler in a later appointment if required. Some might do at same time. We often prefer to first strengthen skin with PN (a series), then re-evaluate if filler is still necessary – often patients find they need much less filler or none, as the concern is greatly mitigated. But yes, they’re combinable; no negative interaction as long as proper injection planes and order are followed. – PDO Threads: If someone is considering under-eye smoothing threads or a canthopexy thread, we’d space these out as well, but they can complement each other (threads provide mechanical lift, PN improves skin). During your consult, we’ll go over all the tools that could benefit you and map out a plan – whether that’s just PhilArt Eye or a mix of solutions – and how to time them.
